Straus Meyers, LLP (“the Firm,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information this website (strausmeyers.com) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies only to this website — not to the Firm’s handling of client files, which is governed by our engagement agreements and our professional obligations.

This website does not provide legal advice, and submitting information through it does not create an attorney–client relationship.Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive information through the forms. If we represent a party with interests adverse to yours, we may have a duty to disclose what you send.

1. Information you give us

We only collect the information you choose to enter into a form:

Contact / inquiry form: your first and last name, email address, phone number, the reason for your inquiry, and the message you write.
Careers / application form: your first and last name, email address, phone number, the position of interest, and the information you write about yourself. (Résumés are sent to us by email rather than through the form.)

You control what you put in these fields. Please don’t include sensitive personal information (for example, government ID numbers, financial account numbers, or health information) — none of it is required to contact us.

2. Information collected automatically; cookies and analytics

This is a static website served by our hosting provider. Like virtually all websites, the host keeps standard server logs — your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and timestamps — for security and to operate the site.

The site itself sets no cookies. If — and only if — you select Allow on the cookie notice, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages visited, approximate location, device type). Google Analytics sets cookies and processes your IP address to do this. If you select Decline, or make no choice, analytics does not load and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time via “Cookie preferences”in the footer, which brings the notice back. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.

3. How we use your information

To respond to your inquiry and communicate with you.
To evaluate a job application you submit.
To check for conflicts of interest before any potential engagement.
To operate, secure and maintain the website.
To comply with our legal and professional obligations.

4. How your information is handled and shared

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. Form submissions are delivered to us by email rather than stored on the website. We rely on a small number of service providers to run the site and receive your messages:

Web3Forms — processes and delivers form submissions to the Firm’s email.
Microsoft 365 — the Firm’s email service, where inquiries and applications are received and stored.
Cloudflare — hosts and delivers the website and maintains the server logs described above.
Google — provides Google Analytics, which runs only if you allow it on the cookie notice (see section 2).

These providers process information on our behalf. We may also disclose information where required by law, to respond to legal process, or to protect the rights, safety and property of the Firm or others.

5. How long we keep it

We keep the information you submit for as long as needed to fulfil the purpose you sent it for — to respond to your inquiry, evaluate your application, or run a conflict check — and thereafter only as long as our professional, record-keeping and legal obligations require.

6. Security

The site is served only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and submissions are transmitted to us rather than stored on the public website. Access to the messages we receive is limited to Firm personnel. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — please keep this in mind when deciding what to send.

7. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information you submitted through this site by emailingclients@strausmeyers.com. We will respond consistent with applicable law and our professional obligations (some information may need to be retained).

California residents: depending on your circumstances and ours, you may have rights under California privacy law to know what personal information we hold, to request its deletion or correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. To make a request, contact us at the email above. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

8. Children

This website is intended for a professional audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Links to other sites

The site may link to other websites (for example, professional organizations or the Firm’s social media). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; please review their policies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
